The "High & Dry" series was a body of work for a solo exhibition, inspired by the boats discovered in the front yards of homes during my morning walks in Clayton Bay. Some boats had been specifically turned into a garden feature, while others appeared to have been abandoned to the elements, or perhaps just waiting for their day of resurrection. The abstracted backgrounds in these paintings reflect this ambiguous status and the vibrant colours used with luscious oils worked with palette knife create a contemporary impressionistic feel.
